Africas Economic success was due to socialism... (its abandonment)
Socialism has only brought misery across the globe. Only when nations abandon socialism do they start to grow and start pulling their citizens out of poverty. In the case of Africa, a continent besieged by colonialism and centuries of slave trade, the consequences of socialism have only been magnified.
Famine, civil wars, persecution, dictatorships, ethnic cleansing, mass corruption - it is all there. The saddest part is that it's all there still. However as nations begin to engage democracy and implement free market policies we are seeing tremendous progress in areas of GDP growth and elimination of extreme poverty.
I ran across this great article by Marian L. Tupy "Africa is growing thanks to free markets" which brings forth the facts showing the impact of these policies. Global socialists will claim that the resurgence of Africa is due to commodity prices and natural resources, however the data points to the contrary.
